Yaron Brook on Margaret Thatcher’s Election

Ever wondered how someone like Margaret Thatcher got elected during the socialistic upheaval in the U.K.?

Here is a quick, but smart, explanation by Yaron Brook, Executive Director of the Ayn Rand Institute.

Margaret Thatcher was a radical compared to the popular socialistic beliefs of the 1970’s, but she wasn’t a “radical” when compared to people like Yaron Brook or other objectivists, libertarians, or strong conservatives.

People were in disdain about socialism and wanted a radical change; Margaret Thatcher was in the right place at the right time.

She didn’t present herself as a radical. She maintained a “centrist” disposition, which helped her to get elected.

Something to keep in mind if you’re trying to get elected or trying to spread your message to a large audience.
