Common Core: Cultivating Compliance

amplifier-785576145-1291047425There has been a lot of discussion on talk radio, television, and around the web about the implementation of Common Core, and it prompted me to increase my knowledge of the topic.  What I did find was, of course, sickening.  One example is something called the Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools.  You won’t find it on the Core Standards website, but I found what appears to be a product of it on the blog, Constitution Warrior.

It is a sample of an assignment given to eighth grade students at LaCreole Middle School in Dallas, Ore. where students are required to perform 12 hours of community service per semester.

They can score anywhere from “menace to society” for not meeting standards to “civil servant” for exceeding standards.
